OneWay Pins

OneWay Pins are custom map landmarks: banks, craft tables, vendors, and anything you come back to. They stay on the world map and minimap with your own icons until you delete them. Click a pin for a live waypoint that clears when you arrive; the icon stays.

Turn OneWay Pins off in Manage Features (Settings) under Notes to hide the tab, map icons, map click, lists, and add menus. Saved pins stay. Journal notes, zone notes, NPC notes, and the rest of Notes keep working. Open OneWay Pins settings from Notes settings, the Pins tab, or the world-map pin button for map, click, size, and animation options.

Where to find them

  • The OneWay Pins tab in Notes (/1wn)
  • The OneWoW pin button on the world map, next to the map filters. It sits under the other addon icons already in that stack.
  • The QoL ESC Menu Panel Zone Card Notes icon lists pins for the map you are in (hover for the list; click to open Notes)
  • Manage Features under Notes turns OneWay Pins off or on (saved pins stay)
  • OneWay Pins settings from Notes settings, the Pins tab, or the world-map pin button

How to add a pin

  • Right-click your own unit frame to drop a pin at your feet
  • Right-click any NPC's target frame to pin that NPC
  • Find Location looks up NPCs in a zone by name, type, notes, tooltip lines, or what they sell (Catalog NPCs tab / NPCs pack for shop search). Type a zone name or map ID (Current Zone fills where you are; Verify Zone checks it). A leading ! hides matches. Results update after a short pause
  • Catalog Journal, Vendors, and Quests can save a pin: right-click the existing map pin, or use Save Pin next to Pin on a vendor. If that vendor location is already saved, the link is Open Pin and takes you to the OneWay Pins tab. Saving the same vendor on the same map again does not create a second pin. Deleting it also removes leftover copies of that location.
  • On the world map: Add Pin, then click the map (a pin ghost and live coordinates follow the cursor). Add Here saves at your feet. Find Location is on that button too. Map Click Menu (OneWay Pins settings or the world-map pin button) turns the add-pin click off. When on, pick Ctrl-Right or Right. Default is on with Ctrl-Right, so a plain right-click stays with Blizzard and other addons.

Zone notes

On the Zones tab, pin the zone (Pin Zone Window) to show a floating window when you enter. Zone Pinned Window on that tab (and in Notes settings) turns every floating zone window on or off.

Hover the window for Show Zone Notes and Hide Scrollbar. Uncheck Show Zone Notes to leave only the pin list when that list is docked. Hide Scrollbar hides the pin list bar; the list still scrolls with the mouse wheel. Opacity on the note, hover bar, and pin list stay in step.

Use the minimize button on the title bar (or double-click / Shift-click the bar) to shrink the window to the name only. The pin list hides with it. That setting is remembered the next time you enter the zone. The X still hides the window for 30 minutes.

Pin list in zone

OneWay Pins owns the list. Show pin list in zone (OneWay Pins settings, on by default) shows a floating list when you enter a zone that has pins marked Show on pinned window. No marked pins, no list.

Each pin and each pack has Show on pinned window, Show on World Map, and Show on Minimap (all on by default, including shipped packs). Turn Show on pinned window off on a huge treasure pack so the map still has the pins but the list stays usable.

If a zone note is also pinned, the list docks beside it. The list hides in instances, Delves, pet battles, and battlegrounds by default (OneWay Pins settings). Character, bank, guild bank, and professions windows draw in front of the list.

Add on the pin list (or right-click empty space) opens Add Here and Find Location. Left-click a listed pin to go, Ctrl-click to open the OneWay Pins tab, right-click for Go / Track, Show on Map, Edit, Open Pin Tab, or Delete. Creating a pin does not create a zone note.

Maps and the list

  • Pins stay on the world map, minimap, and the OneWay Pins tab until you delete them
  • The tab defaults to This Map. The count under the list is Showing X of Y. An empty list means none on this zone, not that you have no pins. Switch Zone to All to see every pin. Search or storage filters that match nothing say No matching pins.
  • Pin Packs group many pins behind one row (for example moths or trainers). The pack stays one row even if it has dozens of pins. Turn a pack off to hide every pin in it. Each pack also has Show on pinned window, Show on World Map, and Show on Minimap. Show Disabled Packs stays on so you can turn a pack back on; uncheck it to hide those rows.
  • Import pastes a pack string. Export copies the selected pack to share. New pack makes an empty pack you can fill. An imported pack works like one you made: rename it, add or delete pins, drag to reorder, and change Pack Look. Send to Pack moves a pin (yours or from another pack) into a pack; it then uses that pack's look until you edit the pin. Removing a pack can return those pins to your list or delete them with the pack. Remove from Pack on one pin returns it to My Pins. Delete removes that pin.
  • Right-click a pin (list, pack list, or map) for Go, Show Map, Edit, Send to Pack, Remove from Pack, or Delete. Pack pin rows keep Edit only; a line above that list says to right-click for the rest. Right-click a pack to enable or disable it, add pins, export, or delete. Delete is on the details pane and in the pack pane. The left list is names only so titles have room.
  • With a pack selected, Add Here and Find Location add into that pack.
  • Pack Expansion lists every current expansion without scrolling. Pack Look is the same icon, background, effect, and size options as a personal pin. Each pin can keep that look or use its own. Drag pins in the pack list to reorder them; Lock order turns that off.
  • Minimap pins stay on the landmark as you walk. Pins outside the current zoom sit on the rim
  • Open a pin on the list for Go (live waypoint) and Show Map (open that pin's zone and set a live waypoint; other pins stay visible)
  • The world map Map Legend can list OneWay Pins for the map you are viewing (OneWay Pins settings or the map button). Hover a name to highlight that pin. Opening the map hides pinned zone notes until you close it
  • Edit a pin to set title, an optional description, icon (including Blizzard minimap tracking icons such as banker, mailbox, flight master, trainers, food, and reagents), world-map and minimap size, optional background (including New Item and other glows), Effect (None, Zooming, Spinning, or Both), and Background Scale. Scale is relative to the icon, so the same pin looks the same on the world map, minimap, and list. Backgrounds stay still unless you pick an effect. The Notes tab details preview plays that effect. Hover a pin in the zone list or map legend for title, description, and coordinates. Pins saved from Catalog Journal, Vendors, or Quests mention Catalog on the tooltip. Changes show on the maps and the Notes tab after a short pause; Save writes them. Extra layers use more memory. OneWay Pins settings set the default sizes. Disable minimap animations in OneWay Pins settings is on by default (the minimap does not play pin animations well).

Collectibles

Track collectibles you care about with an intent (Want, Spotted, Farming, or Delete List):

  • Filter by category, type, storage, and collected vs uncollected
  • Live ownership comes from OneWoW’s collectibles service
  • Vendor capture (Notes settings): Off, Prompt, or Automatic — add uncollected vendor collectibles to your want list when you browse merchants
  • Sold by shows captured vendor offers (richer with the Catalog NPCs pack)
  • Transmog sets can show ensemble progress and member appearances
  • Optional auto-delete: collected Want/Spotted/Farming entries move to the Delete List, then purge after a delay (Immediate / 1 / 7 / 14 days); empty the Delete List anytime from settings
  • Want or Farming intent also adds the item to the Shopping List Farming tab when we can resolve an item id (Shopping List must be enabled; it is not loaded just to write the row)

Link collectibles into journal notes the same way you link items.

Farming notes

Existing Farming journal notes still track an item and the place you farm it. Add Note no longer creates that kind. Item notes stay on the Items tab.

Handy features

  • Hyperlinks to items, spells, NPCs, quests, achievements, and collectibles; cross-links between notes
  • OneWay Pins on the world map and minimap, plus coordinates you can navigate to
  • Account-wide or per-character storage
  • Right-click helpers (target info, timestamps, character name)
  • Auto-save as you type
  • Suite themes and all eleven locales via OneWoW
  • Settings > Notes: scale for pinned notes and zone windows (50% to 200%)

QoL Inspect Gear can save inspect notes into Notes when that module is enabled.

Tips

  • Use account storage for guild/raid knowledge you want on every alt; character storage for private alts-only notes.
  • Pin a short checklist note while doing a long questline. Use OneWay Pins for banks and tables you come back to.
  • Leave Show on pinned window on for the pins you want in the zone list. Turn it off on a huge pack so you still see those pins on the map without filling the list. Uncheck Show Zone Notes if you only want that list. Check Hide Scrollbar if you want that list without the bar.
  • From Catalog Quests, click a giver or turn-in name to open that NPC here with its zone, map, and coordinates filled in. Right-click the map ID to save a OneWay Pin.
  • Turn on vendor collectible capture (Prompt or Automatic) when shopping for mounts/toys you still need.
